Canada-US border will remain close for another 30 days. Non-essential travel remains restricted until June 21st.
Justin Trudeau anounced on Thursday.
There is a need for a "common platform" to identify travellers' vaccination status. Canada is working with G7 countries and the European Union to integrate vaccine certification into international travel in the months ahead. Update on the Canada-US border: To protect your health and limit the spread of COVID-19, we’re extending the measures currently in place by another 30 days. Non-essential travel between our two countries remains restricted until June 21st.
Meanwhile, Transport Minister Omar Alghabra says he cannot yet commit to a date — or COVID-19 vaccination rate benchmarks — for when so-called vaccine passports will allow Canada to ease travel restrictions.
