On Tuesday, May 25, 2021, officers responded to two retail robberies that were committed in the Weston Road and St. Clair Avenue West area.

In each of the incidents, a man entered the store and approached the checkout counter, he pulled out a silver handgun and made a demand for cash. The man took cash and a quantity of long distance telephone calling cards.

In one incident, the man took an employee’s cellphone and shattered the screen, making it unusable

Each time the man fled the scene on an e-bike.

Members of the Toronto Police Hold Up Squad began an investigation and were able to identify the suspect.

On Friday, May 28, 2021, Jawara Brown, 40, of Toronto, was arrested.
