A 23-year-old Alireza Abbasi from Richmond hill has been charged with Dangerous Driving and Stunt Driving and his vehicle has been seized after he was caught driving more than 200 kilometres an hour.

On May 29, 2021, at approximately 2:50 p.m., an officer on patrol spotted a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed going south on Bayview Avenue, at 19th Avenue, in the City of Richmond Hill. The speed measuring device in the police cruiser showed the vehicle was traveling at 202 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone.

The vehicle was stopped safely and was impounded for seven days.

Excessive speed has consistently been one of the greatest contributing factors in many fatal collisions that have occurred on York Region roads.
