An investigation is underway after officers attended a large gathering downtown and laid 24 charges under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA).
On Sunday, May 9, 2021 at 1:27 a.m., 52 Division's Primary Response Unit were called to a dispute in a laneway in the Huron Street and Dundas Street West.
Officers from 52 Division's Major Crime Unit will continue to investigate the circumstances and identify those in attendance.
The Toronto Police Service continues to attend gatherings every day and has 16 dedicated enforcement teams which specifically target large gatherings indoors at short-term rentals and businesses, as well as outdoors. Anyone breaching the provincial orders could face a fine of $750 and officers will take steps to disperse and lay charges. Charges can also be laid at a later date.
